Sustainable or Green Design can be defined as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
In accordance with direction set by the Council, the Ontario Association of Architects supports the integration of sustainable design and green building issues into the mainstream activities of the OAA and of its members.
We recognize the importance of environmental issues and sustainable design and the need to service all members of the OAA with respect to these issues. In doing so the OAA has re-established an environmental committee under the auspices of the "Sustainable Built Environments Committee".
