Brian was born in London, England in1947. Educated in London to the age of fifteen, moved to Scotland in 1962 where he completed his education and obtained his first employment. He returned to London in 1970 and worked there successfully up to his emigration to Canada in July 1981.

After completing his formal education he entered into an Apprenticeship in Architecture in June of 1965 and attended Art School and Technical College for Building Design & Technology. He was accepted as a Probationer of the Royal Institute of British Architects in the same year and completed parts one and two of the Intermediate Examination by means of External Testimonies over the next three years. In 1978 he became a Senior Surveying Technician by satisfying the admission requirements and becoming an Associate Member of the Society of Surveying Technicians. 


Upon arrival  to Canada in 1981 he applied for membership to Construction Specifications Canada and he  currently serves on the Executive Sub Committee in the capacity of Student Liaison Officer. In addition he became an accredited Member of the Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario and serves on the Governing Council and was AATO President from 2009 to 2011 and he is now in his second term as AATO’s current President and College and Faculty Liaison Officer.


In addition Brian has become an active member of the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA), the Ontario Building Envelope Council (OBEC),  The Ontario Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT)  and the Ontario Association of Applied Architectural Sciences (OAAAS) and became a Licensed Technologist OAA in November 2016.


He has excellent communication and administration skills, a very high standard of draftsmanship with extensive design, presentation and technical knowledge. As well as excellent freehand drafting and rendering skills, He has fifty two years of experience and is very proficient in AutoCAD and Revit as well as other computer programs including Microsoft  Word, Excel, Photoshop and PowerPoint etc.

Most of his half a century plus, in Architecture has been spent working in Architect’s Offices or Architectural Departments of large organizations. However, he has been running his own business since 1986 but since 2002 he has devoted all of his time developing his own successful Architectural Practice, Adtek Building Consultants.


Having reached the pinnacle of his career he has chosen to get involved as much as possible and share his wealth of experiences with others and most particularly the younger members and students in the profession of Architecture and those in other diverse disciplines within the construction industry. He frequently lectures at community colleges on the benefit of association membership and also sits on five Program Advisory Committees (PAC) at Centennial, Georgian, Sheridan, Humber and George Brown College; he is the current Chair of the PAC at Sheridan College and the past Chair at George Brown College.
