Royal Architectural Institute of Canada
Ontario Association of Architects Councillor

John Stephenson is a successful architect, and business executive with over 33 years of experience in the practice of architecture and real estate development. He is the managing partner of FORM Architecture Engineering, the largest architectural practice in Northwestern Ontario. John’s extensive experience with publicly funded institutional projects in Northwestern Ontario has given him the ability to manage the process of design decision making and approvals by a wide variety of public and regulatory agencies. His experience with public sector/private sector partnerships and real estate development has made him particularly well attuned to the challenges of reconciling the sometimes conflicting needs of both cultures.

His portfolio encompasses a broad spectrum of projects, particularly within the sectors associated with retirement living, supportive housing and long-term care. Furthermore, his portfolio includes experience and expertise with restoration projects, adaptive re-use of heritage buildings and educational and commercial building projects.

John has been the partner in charge of much of the health and long term care work completed by FORM or currently underway. Included amongst this body of work are numerous St. Joseph’s Care Group projects including the Centre of Excellence for Integrated Seniors’ Services (CEISS) Long Term Care (444 beds) and Supportive Housing apartments (132 units), Sister Margaret Smith Centre (LEED® Gold), Hogarth Riverview Manor and the Specialized Mental Health Rehabilitation Project.
