Michael Donaldson

Architect

MArch, OAA, MRAIC, BFA, BA(Hons), Engineers Without Borders

Biography

Michael Donaldson worked on many challenging and high-profile projects for a series of leading practices in Canada and the U.K. before founding Design Workshop Architects in 2011. He believes that design is both an interpretive and a creative process, and seeks to find solutions that are as elegantly unique as they are technically innovative. Michael approaches design with an open mind, an understanding of clients' concrete needs and a keen awareness of the many cultural, social, spatial and technical concerns that weave through the design process. His attentive, considered and passionate approach adds a positive and disarmingly team-oriented voice to any project. He has a firm hand in negotiations, knows when to consult specialists, and is fluent in the language of project delivery.

With an academic background in the practice and history of the visual arts and architecture, Michael Donaldson brings a uniquely forward-looking but historically aware perspective to his projects. Having lived and worked across Canada, in the United Kingdom, Japan, Venezuela and Italy, Michael brings a broad outlook to every project.
