Annual Institute on the Library as Place 2018

A Space for Everyone! Decolonizing Library Places in the Spirit of Reconciliation

12 July 2018

The theme of the 2018 Institute is “A Space for Everyone! Decolonizing Library Places in the Spirit of Reconciliation”.  Libraries flourish when they reflect the communities served and the multiple perspectives of their constituencies. Successful library places and spaces are designed to foster resiliency, inclusivity, accessibility, sustainability, flexibility and to anticipate future needs in creative, inspiring ways. In addition to examining space considerations from an Indigenous perspective, we will also turn our lens towards other underserved communities and focus on how libraries are making efforts to develop more inclusive and accessible spaces.
