On Thursday October 26, the OAA hosted the now
Lecture for a third year to a sold-out crowd of approximately 160 guests including OAA members, students, and architectural enthusiasts. The Berkley Church provided an intimate, yet spacious setting for both the gallery display of blackLAB’s work throughout the mezzanine space and the stage and presentation area of the main floor. The pre-lecture reception encouraged dialogue and discussion on architecture and continued following the hour-long presentation. blackLAB fully illustrated the mandate of the OAA now
lecture series: discussing their story, contribution and experience as a young practice. Together, the audience celebrated the OAA’s Best Emerging Practice Award Winner and their captivating experience to date.
The 2017 edition of the OAA now lecture series was presented by its four founding partners, Architects Andrea Kordos, Joe Knight
and Tony Round
, and Business Manager Sarah Knight
of blackLab architects inc.
- the recipient of OAA's Best Emerging Practice Award (2017). blackLAB is a firm that is small by design and specializes in residential architecture often informed by their experimental and extra-curricular design.
We would like to thank all of those who attended and give a special thanks to our volunteers who helped make the evening possible. We look forward to continuing the tradition of OAA now as we begin to accept submission for 2018 OAA Awards.
