OAA now 2016 Lecture: Denegri Bessai Studio

OCTOBER 13, 2016  | OAA Heaquarters

On Thursday October 13, the OAA hosted the now Lecture for a second year to a sold-out crowd of approximately 170 guests consisting of OAA members, students, and architectural enthusiasts. Our Headquarters was transformed into a celebratory hub to encourage dialogue and discussion on architecture, and the unique structure of contemporary architectural practices. This was quite fitting, since the OAA now lecture series was designed with the mandate to celebrate and offer a platform for OAA’s Best Emerging Practice Award Winner to discuss their story, contribution and experience as a young practice.

The 2016 edition of the OAA now lecture series was presented by Maria Denegri and Tom Bessai of  Denegri Bessai Studio - the recipient of OAA's Best Emerging Practice Award (2016). This emerging practice bases its commitment to architecture on the goals of pushing the limits of experimental architecture in Canada, bringing the highly innovative research and development extant in academia to the market place, and producing a refined architecture of quality for clients and users.
We would like to thank all of those who attended and give a special thanks to all our volunteers who helped make the evening possible. We look forward to continuing the tradition of OAA now as we begin to accept submission for 2017 OAA Awards.
