3 Unstructured Learning Hours
McMaster Innovation Park (MIP) occupies the site of a former Westinghouse manufacturing complex that closed in 2004. It is presently being redeveloped by McMaster University as a research and innovation park focusing on entrepreneurism and the commercialization of research related to the nearby university and regional businesses. The site includes the adaptive reuse of the former Westinghouse office and factory building as The Atrium@MIP multi-tenant building, by Lintack Architects Inc., the new 167,000 sf CanmetMATERIALS, a LEED Platinum metals research and testing facility designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects Inc. and the transformation of 50,000 sf of a former warehouse into the 92,000 sf McMaster Automotive Resource Centre by Perkins + Will Inc.. MIP representatives will provide an overview of evolving plans for the site and upcoming projects. Architects will provide tours of their respective buildings. Please note that access to the CanmetMATERIALS facility may be limited.
All tours leave from the hotel lobby. Transportation provided if applicable.
