resTOre is an international student design competition in honour of the late Professor Margery Winkler. This competition focuses on rejuvenating underutilized green spaces and open sites in Toronto with the challenge to redesign an existing site into a usable community space through architectural and landscape design.
Total prize value amounts to $1250 with the first place awarded $750, second place with $500, and third with $250. Jury members include Janet Rosenberg of Janet Rosenberg & Associates, Ken Greenberg of Greenberg Consultants, and Pat Hanson of gh3. Registration ends May 10 and submissions are due on May 16. Proceeds of the competition go towards the Annual Margery Winkler Lecture, Department of Architectural Science at Ryerson University.
Margery Winkler was a landscape architecture professor in the Department of Architectural Science for more than 20 years. Her work often went above and beyond teaching fundamental landscape and design courses at the university through involvement in community outreach programs and improving neighbourhoods through design. The resTOre competition aims to memorialize her passions and allow students to continue to learn from Margery for years to come.
