Doors Open 2011

OAA Opens its Doors to the Public to promote Ontario Architecture

The twelfth Doors Open Toronto was held on May 28 and 29, 2011, an event where buildings in Toronto that are usually closed to the public were open, and free to enter for two days only. Over 560 visitors made their way to 111 Moatfield Drive as part of the weekend’s celebration of architecture.

Guests enjoyed viewing the exhibition of winners from the 2011 OAA Celebration of Excellence Awards and Design Excellence winners from 2010.

There were aspiring young (and very young) architects, design lovers, and local residents whom were always curious about the interior of the OAA headquarters. Members of the public also made the most of the opportunity to talk to architects and students of architecture about the ins-and-outs of being and becoming, an architect.

The weekend could not have happened without the Doors Open volunteers who were an integral part of the success of the weekend; answering questions and showcasing the building.
