The three-day Festival celebrates the theme of Architecture 150. As Canadians celebrate our country's 150th anniversary, we will pause to consider the role of architecture in creating our built heritage and expressing our culture as we move forward. Architecture profoundly affects people; it forms the buildings and communities that Canadians call home, and it reflects the values of society. The work of architects contributes to well-being, quality of life and economic prosperity. Canadians increasingly appreciate design, yet public awareness of the role of architects is lower than the profession would like. As we solidify the cultural legacy of past generations, how do architects of today and tomorrow reinforce their role as leaders in creating livable and sustainable communities shaped by enduring design excellence?
