Established in 1970, Open Studio is a charitable, non-profit, artist-run centre dedicated to the production, preservation and promotion of contemporary original fine art prints. Located in the renowned historic arts building, 401 Richmond, Open Studio provides artists with a professional printmaking studio for relief, intaglio, screenprinting and lithography (including photo-based processes) printing. In addition, Open Studio hosts an impressive, year-round, exhibition programme of contemporary fine art prints in our three galleries, as well as an education programme offering courses and workshops across all print media.

This lecture and studio tour showcases a selection of corporate and residential interior design projects featuring prints by artists represented by the Open Studio Print Sales Gallery. Original prints will be on view so you can see first-hand the broad range of techniques, themes, and aesthetic approaches that can be found across the medium of printmaking.  There will also be a brief tour of our printmaking studio and overview of printmaking techniques: screenprinting, intaglio (etching), relief and lithography.

Original fine art prints are an exceptionally versatile and economical choice for any interior project. As Canada’s leading printmaking centre, Open Studio Print Sales Gallery represents over 150 Canadian artists whose artwork can be found in residential and corporate interiors the world over, from prestigious addresses such as Canada House (London, U.K.) to even the most modest, private homes in Toronto.
