    The firm specializes in commercial, multi-family residential, cultural and long term care projects and has almost 30 years of expertise with a great establishment in the local market and an organic growth strategy that allows them to scale-up sustainably through developing and nurturing their long term client relationships, streamlined workflow, and collaborating with trusted and other well-established construction professionals

    Stingray Architects Inc. is looking for a well-seasoned, senior level) licensed Architect.

    • There will be an expectation to work in a lead role, managing a diverse client portfolio and being a role model within the firm
    • The ideal candidate has a thorough understanding of construction techniques; demonstrates confidence in planning, design, and site review; and is distinguished by their experience, leadership qualities and professionalism
    • Your focus will be placed on leading developments and directing project teams through project phases whilst maintaining and furthering client relationships and new business development ventures
    • You will be involved in new building designs, extensions and alterations from the earliest stages to completion
    • Reporting to the Chief Architect, you will provide technical support and design expertise in relation to architectural design work associated with commercial plazas, professional offices, multi-family residential, places of worship, cultural landmarks, and long term care facilities
    • Our goal is to take a team approach with clients to collaborate and produce sustainable, practical, and lasting designs that contribute to the long term success of their businesses
    • You will be successful in this position if you take a detailed approach to project management with an entrepreneurial mindset in developing a team and leading projects forward through to completion

    Working Conditions and Environment:

    • Flexible working hours (up to 37.5 hours per week)
    • Work location: North York (Don Mills Road and Lawrence Avenue)

    Must demonstrate expert technical knowledge of:

    • building products
    • construction details
    • rules, regulations and quality standards
    • planning and building permit process and associated documents
    • construction detailing

    Expert experience in:

    • mid-size complex projects
    • all phases of a project
    • production of construction documents
    • retrofits and renewals of existing buildings

     Advanced skills in:

    • Sketching
    • Thinking and creating in three dimensions
    • Visual awareness and an eye for detail
    • Oral and written communication in English (professional fluency)

    Project management of multiple projects specifically:

    • Meeting deadlines
    • Task prioritization and planning
    • Communication with all parties involved in the project
    • Team leadership using positive approaches

    Maintenance of the firm’s high quality standards in:

    • drawings
    • coordination of consultants
    • client relationships

     Proficiency in:

    • Design software (AutoCAD, Revit)
    • MS Office

    Strong interest in:

    • architecture business development strategies in the local market
    • building and leading teams

    • OAA license to practice and in good standing
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Professional fluency in spoken and written languages other than English an asset

    • Collaborates with Client and/or their assigned designates using a construction brief to assess and determine their needs, in order to facilitate the preparation of feasibility reports and design proposals
    • Developing architecture in line with client’s needs, building usage, and environmental impact
    • Prepares, reviews, and quality controls preliminary designs, working drawings, specifications and cost estimates related to the project to ensure client’s intents, compliance with government codes, laws and regulations
    • Provides technical expertise in development or review of policies and procedures in relation to architectural structures and systems and construction/safety codes
    • Perform in all phases of the project, (site planning, design development, construction documents, coordination with consultants and contract administration, meetings with consultants and authorities, coordinate internal meetings with the production team)
    • Advises subcontractors on interpretation of plans, recommends changes when necessary
    • Reviews subcontractor’s shop drawings to ensure compliance with specifications and contract agreements by checking them for technical accuracy according to accepted guidelines
    • Carry out assigned field reviews to ensure that designs are built in general compliance with issued for construction documents and Ontario Building Codes; report on project
    • Cooperate and liaise with construction professionals
    • Stamping design drawings for permit drawings
    • Researches literature and maintain knowledge of current building materials, structural, mechanical and electrical system codes and methods of application
    • Controlling projects from start to finish to ensure high quality, innovative, and functional design
    • Deliver within budgets and timelines
