As advised in e-bulletin, training in fall protection is mandatory for all personnel who visit construction sites. Presumably your firm has undertaken training. If not, do it now!
Were you aware of the following:
- Employer to ensure that all personnel who may use a fall protection system are given oral and written instruction by a competent person.
- Employer to ensure that person who provides training and instruction, also prepares a written training and instruction record for each worker and signs the record.
- The training and instruction record shall include the worker’s name and the dates on which the training took place.
- The employer shall make the training and instruction record for each worker available to an inspector upon request.
If you think you had it all covered……
- It is recommended that trained workers carry their certification cards when on construction sites.
- Travel-restraint systems, fall-restricting systems, fall-arrest systems, and horizontal lifeline systems must be inspected by a competent worker prior to each use.
- There must be a written rescue plan, prepared in advance and understood by all parties involved in any use of a fall arrest system.
