In Memoriam - Peter Cook

COOK, Peter, Former Member

Peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, on Monday March 22, 2021, Mr. Peter Cook of Chatham in his 64th year following a five-year journey with cancer.  Cherished son of the late Ross and Margaret Cook.  Beloved husband of Barbara. Loving father of Brandon of Chatham, and Stephen and his wife Xana Ouellette of Windsor. Dear brother of Dennis Cook and his wife Cathy of Sarnia.

As an architect, Peter was the owner of Jorden + Cook Architect Ltd in Chatham from 1991 until his retirement in 2016.  During this time, he completed countless projects in Chatham-Kent and Southwestern Ontario, including the W.I.S.H. Centre, St. Andrew’s Terrace, and Riverview Gardens Long-Term Care Home.

The church was always important to Peter. He was a long-time member of St. Andrew’s United Church and spent untold hours serving on several committees.  Additionally, he served on the Architectural Resource Group of the United Church of Canada for many years.

Music was an integral part of Peter’s life beginning with Junior Choir at Central United Church in Sarnia.  He was active in the concert band, stage band, and choir in high school. Most recently he sang with the St. Andrew’s United Church choir and Jubilee Chorus. His gift of music will be sorely missed by all who sang with him.

Peter was a member of the Rotary Club of Chatham since 1992.  In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, and being with his family.

The family would like to thank the London Regional Cancer Program, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, and all the doctors, nurses, and support staff who provided wonderful care and comfort on his journey.
