Architect or Intern Architect

INTERN ARCHITECT APRIL 2024

 

Description

A successful architecture firm in Oakville, John Willmott Architect, Inc. specializes in custom houses and small commercial projects.  We are looking for an Intern Architect or Architect to join our team to collaborate in office. Our goal is to provide a complete design experience for our clients.  We enjoy a good office culture with a dedicated team and value the balance between work and the more important things in life. 

 

Qualifications

Candidates require: 

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.

  • At least 5 year’s work experience in custom residential design in various design styles similar to those projects in our portfolio

  • Experience preparing design drawings, working drawings, interior details and finish schedules

  • Familiarity with the OBC, particularly part 9

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and organization skills including experience dealing with clients, contractors, suppliers and regulatory authorities.

 

Proficiency in the following software:

  • Vectorworks, including 3D/BIM features, or demonstrate transferrable CAD skills and willingness to learn VW either on the Mac or PC platform

  • Sketchup, 3D modelling

  • Lumion, for rendering and visualizations.

 

Duties Include

  • Pre-design site documentation, zoning reviews and calculations, plus other reviews for authorities such as Heritage, Conservation and Committee of Adjustment processes.

  • Preparation of design drawings including 3D modelling and visualizations

  • Preparation of working drawings for permit, including coordinating with various consultants, detailing and issuing tender documents

  • Site visits and general review of construction

  • Various other office tasks, responsibilities, and taking direction from other team members.

 

Assets

  • Experience with Net-Zero construction detail for residential design

  • Demonstrate versatility with various design styles

  • Advanced skills in rendering and 3D modelling.

 

Compensation

 Employees are paid on an hourly basis and this position ranges from $35.00 to $45.00 per hour commensurate with experience with a minimum of 37.5 hrs per week, up to 44 hours per week for eager staff, workload permitting.  We offer a benefit plan after 6 months of service and reimburse for professional development.
