Intern Architect/Designer (On-Site)

ZO1 Architects is a progressive architectural firm specializing in small to large-scale, high-density and multi-phase developments from concept design to construction completion. We are a group of passionate architects and interior designers who has extensive design and development experience in the Greater Toronto Area.
Our portfolio of work is diverse. We are currently working on a wide range of projects from low to high-rise to large-scale mixed-use development. We are specialized in residential, senior living, long-term care, retail commercial, luxury hotel and office. Most of our projects are working directly with established developers or non-profit organization in the Greater Toronto Area.

Qualifications:

  • Min 1-3 years’ experience in architectural design
  • Bachelors of Architecture Degree and/or a Master of Architecture or Bachelors of Interior Design
  • Able to communicate concept by sketches and develop/ execute in Revit. Min. 3-5 years of professional Revit experience.
  • Proficiency in Revit is mandatory; experience with additional software (e.g., SketchUp, Navisworks) is an asset.
  • High proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong understanding of the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and construction detailing.
  • Good communication skills with clients, consultants, and officials.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with clients, consultants, and team members.
  • Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit for Architectural Design is considered an asset.
  • OAA Intern certification or eligibility and intent is a must.
  • Proficient knowledge in the use of building materials and related construction techniques
  • Able to produce sketches for plan/ section details to communicate the details how design brief/ intent, bylaws requirement and envelope building science are met
  • Able to take the lead to develop zoning and SPA level design
  • Able to understand the design brief by understanding client brief, research on various bylaws, OBC Part 3 and Part 9 and urban design principles/ guidelines.
  • Continue to execute the detail to meet the requirements.
  • Dedicated to meeting project deadlines
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Willingness and eagerness to learn, being able to pick up new tasks, workflows, and software quickly.
  • Understanding and ability to follow instruction
  • Strong communication skills, with a positive and proactive attitude in providing support for project teams
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Must live in Canada currently and have legal authorization to work in Canada

Salary Range $45,000. - $60,000.

Offered compensation will be based on individual qualifications.
