Senior Architect

Position Summary
We are seeking an inspiring and highly skilled Senior Architect who believes that architecture can be a powerful force for positive change—strengthening communities, improving lives, and creating places where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Join our team and help lead the design and delivery of affordable housing, supportive and community housing, and shelter projects that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. We are looking for an accomplished designer, collaborative leader, and experienced project manager with multi-unit housing experience who can guide projects from the earliest stages of design through construction documentation and construction administration.

Beyond technical expertise and design excellence, we are looking for someone who brings a strong sense of purpose to their work. Someone who believes that how we design our buildings matters, that the built environment can foster dignity, belonging, and opportunity, and that their time, talents, and passion for architecture can contribute to a better future for our communities.

If you believe architecture should do more than create buildings—that it should create positive, lasting change—we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead with purpose: Guide projects through all phases of design and construction, from Schematic Design (SD) and Design Development (DD) through Construction Documents (CD) and Construction Administration (CA), translating a shared vision into meaningful, lasting community impact.

  • Lead project delivery: Take ownership as Project Manager, overseeing schedules, budgets, deliverables, and coordination to ensure projects are delivered successfully and with a high standard of design excellence.

  • Champion thoughtful design: Develop innovative, high-quality architectural solutions for affordable housing, supportive and community housing, and shelter environments, creating places that foster dignity, belonging, well-being, and opportunity.

  • Drive design excellence: Lead and oversee the development of comprehensive drawing packages, balancing creative vision with technical rigour, constructability, and attention to detail.

  • Foster collaboration: Work closely with structural, mechanical, electrical, and other specialist consultants to develop integrated design solutions that respond to the needs of each project and the communities it serves.

  • Build meaningful relationships: Engage directly with clients, stakeholders, and community groups, listening to their perspectives and translating their aspirations into thoughtful, inclusive architectural solutions.

  • Bring designs to life: Lead Construction Administration activities, including site visits, shop drawing and submittal reviews, responses to RFIs, site instructions, and payment application reviews, ensuring the design vision is carried through to completion.

  • Protect design intent and quality: Ensure that construction aligns with the project’s design objectives, contract documents, applicable codes, and industry standards.

  • Inspire and mentor others: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to project teams, fostering a collaborative, supportive, and ambitious studio culture where people can grow and do their best work.

  • Make a lasting difference: Bring curiosity, initiative, and a strong sense of social responsibility to every project, recognizing the opportunity to use architecture as a catalyst for positive change in our communities.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Professional expertise: Licensed Architect, or actively working toward licensure, with demonstrated project management experience and a commitment to design excellence.

  • Comprehensive project experience: Proven ability to lead and deliver architectural projects through all phases, from Schematic Design (SD) and Design Development (DD) to Construction Documents (CD) and Construction Administration (CA).

  • Technical excellence: Strong understanding of construction detailing, technical documentation, building systems, constructability, and the coordination required to deliver high-quality buildings.

  • Design leadership: A strong design sensibility and the ability to translate ambitious architectural concepts into thoughtful, practical, and buildable solutions.

  • Construction Administration: Experience with site reviews, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, site instructions, and coordination with contractors to ensure design intent is realized.

  • Creative problem-solving: A curious, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach to complex design challenges, with the ability to balance client needs, community aspirations, technical requirements, and project constraints.

Above all, we are looking for someone who believes architecture can do more than shape the built environment. We want a colleague who sees the potential for thoughtful design to foster dignity, belonging, and opportunity—and who is motivated to contribute their talent, leadership, and creativity to projects that make a lasting, positive difference in people's lives.
