OCA Architects Inc. is seeking a Senior Technologist for immediate placement.

Where we are located.

OCA Architects is located in the West end of Toronto (Etobicoke) at the intersection of 427 and 401 and directly across from Renforth Station (Miway Mississauga).  We are walking distance to Centennial Park and are on the Eglington bike path.   We are highway accessible and provide parking (no cost to staff).

Who are and our focus.

We are a mid-size firm that produces a large volume work, and we are seeking an experienced, good spirited professional to compliment and grow with us.

Our firm is a boutique firm that focuses on Retirement Complexes (often high end), LTC and Assisted Living Buildings as well as Private Schools and other smaller buildings. 

The two Partners and our Senior Associate are graduates from the three Ontario Schools of Architectural from our time – University of Waterloo, University of Toronto and Carleton University.  We also hire Co-op work term students from Waterloo on a regular basis.  Our firm was founded in 1990.

We prefer our firm "small" as the partners enjoy being engaged at all phases of project from initial design to the final ribbon cutting.   We also strive to develop our staff internally and enhance our collective design and technical skill sets.

The team member and position we are seeking to fill.

We are looking for a Senior Technologist in the Architectural Discipline with the Qualifications/Responsibilities/Skills note below to assist with the production of working drawings, contract administration and on-site construction architectural review. 

The projects you will be working on.

Our current need is focused on a two seven (7) storey concrete construction mid-rise building (Mid and High-End Retirement Buildings).    Knowledge of LTC buildings and precast-slab construction would be an asset as a large LTC building is estimated to start working drawings in Early 2027. 

When will you start.

The position is immediate and is required to compliment our existing team. 

Required Qualifications/Responsibilities/Skills.

• Graduate of a recognized Architectural Technology Degree, Architectural Degree or currently within Syllabus program.

• A minimum of 12 years relevant experience with a proven track record or quality work and site experience.

• Capable of preparing and coordinating a set of working drawings

• Detailed knowledge of building technology, construction detailing and working drawing production (SPA, Permit, Tender and Construction documents).

• Capable and willing to assist with the development of technical solutions in conjunction with Job Captains/Architects and possibly leading junior technologists/architects

• Experience in Co-ordination of Engineering sub-consultants and Landscape Architects.

• Personable with an ability and desire to work within a team

• Fluent written and verbal communications skills in English

• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD – X-refs etc. is required.  Rivet is not required and is currently not used within our office.

• Working knowledge of Ontario Building Code and OADA standards.

• Experience with Zoning and SPA

• A solid understanding of office functions through all project phases from Design to Contract Administration

• 3D qualifications with Sketch-up, & Adobe Photoshop are an asset but not required.

• Knowledge of Bluebeam or similar PDF editing and comment programming is required.

• Drivers Licence and willing to perform site visits.

• Presentable and able to meet alongside a Partner with clients and sub-consultants

Salary and Compensation.

• Salary Range$80,000 to $90,000 plus bonus.

• The salary will be commensurate with the skill and experience of the candidate noting that this is a Senior Level Position.
