At the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on April 8, the OAA honoured its newest Members of Long Standing—individuals who have achieved the milestone of 50 years of membership with the OAA, contributing to Ontario’s architecture profession.
Among this year’s honourees was Denis Rioux.

Denis Rioux graduated from the University of Toronto in 1969. Early in his career, he worked with Nicol Ream McBain Architects, spending two years as an on-site representative in Sault Ste. Marie.
From 1973 to 1974, Denis joined the Architects for the Metro Centre and contributed to the design team for the CN Tower. He later worked with Peter Caspari Architect as an on-site representative and site architect for the Sheppard Centre Project.

Denis joined Page & Steele Architects in 1975, advancing to Associate Partner during his tenure until 2000. He managed contract administration for numerous projects, including Ports Condominium & Office Buildings, Marina Del Rey Condominiums, Madison Centre, and renovations at the University of Toronto and Queen’s University.
Established in 1993 for projects in Québec, Denis’ his sole proprietorship has since expanded to other provinces. He became a partner at Atkins Architects in 2000, retiring in 2017 as the firm transitioned to Onespace Unlimited Inc.

Today, Denis remains active, managing small school and commercial renovation projects as Denis Rioux Architect.
