At the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on April 8, the OAA honoured its newest Members of Long Standing—individuals who have achieved the milestone of 50 years of membership with the OAA, contributing to Ontario’s architecture profession.
Among this year’s honourees was Slobodan Vlahovich.
Slobodan Vlahovich earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Manitoba in 1969 and became an OAA member in 1973.
Early in his career, he worked with small architectural practices before transitioning to government roles. A notable project during this time was the major renovation of 1 Front Street, where he had the opportunity to collaborate with Jim Strasman of Strasman Architects.
While with the government, Slobodan was instrumental in the implementation of computer-aided design—that is, AutoCAD—within the Ontario Regional Office. He developed and delivered training programs for professionals and technologists in the use of CAD systems. Additionally, he directed the Solar Energy Program for federal buildings in Ontario and successfully managed numerous office space renovations.

He concluded his government career as Manager of Architectural Services at Public Works and Government Services Canada.
Since retiring from public service, Slobodan has continued to offer architectural services, focusing on residential, office, and commercial building projects.
