A Design Challenge: How to ventilate enclosed spaces without compromises

One hour structured virtual presentation presented by VanAir on 1PM, Aug 27th, 2025.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

As modern buildings are designed to minimize environmental impact and promote occupant health and well-being, there is a growing requirement for ventilation openings between enclosed spaces. Ventilation openings often create compromise between airflow, acoustics and aesthetics, subsets of Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ). This course provides knowledge on the need, use case, design and installation of ventilation openings. It also discusses the latest in ventilation door solutions that address IEQ Challenges.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. Examine influences motivating the increased use of ventilation openings.
  2. Compare common ventilation openings, analyzing their requirements and their compromises.
  3. Learn about ventilation and acoustic design principles related to ventilation openings and ventilated doors.
  4. Identify factors to consider when specifying ventilation openings by exploring installations and case studies.
