Malls Reimagined: Strategies for the Next Generation of Mixed-Use Spaces

TIME: 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Description

Across Ontario, many aging suburban shopping malls stand at a crossroads. As cities face relentless pressure to provide housing for growing populations, these sprawling, underutilized sites offer architects a rare opportunity to help shape their transformation into vibrant, mixed-use centres that support the cities of tomorrow.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand the challenges of redeveloping suburban malls
  2. Identify design strategies for transforming mall sites
  3. Compare partial vs. full-site redevelopment approaches
  4. Apply case study lessons to future design projects
