Waterfront Revitalization & Urban Renewal

Toronto is undertaking one of the most ambitious urban renewal and waterfront regeneration programs in North America, transforming both its lakefront and inner-city communities. Spanning nearly 800 hectares of former industrial land, Waterfront Toronto has catalyzed more than CAD $13.2 billion in private investment, delivering 16,600 new residential units, over 1.4 million square feet of retail, and 4 million square feet of office space, while significantly expanding parks, transit, and cultural amenities. Landmark initiatives such as the Port Lands Flood Protection project and the East Bayfront redevelopment are converting underutilized zones into vibrant mixed-use districts, unlocking space for tens of thousands of new homes and jobs, alongside more than 70 acres of green and ecological parkland.

At the same time, the city’s broader urban renewal agenda is addressing critical challenges around housing, infrastructure, and livability. Programs such as Tower Renewal are modernizing aging apartment buildings to improve energy efficiency and affordability, while neighbourhood projects in Regent Park and Bathurst Quay are creating mixed-income housing, new public spaces, and community services that reconnect residents to the city fabric. Together, these efforts underscore Toronto’s dual commitment to enhancing its global competitiveness through waterfront regeneration, while ensuring that established communities remain inclusive, resilient, and future-ready.

Join us at the Waterfront Revitalization and Urban Renewal Conference by Trueventus in Toronto—the essential platform to explore innovative strategies that respond to the evolving needs of growing and emerging communities. Gathering leaders from government, policy, local councils, urban planning, development, investment, and community organizations, this conference will showcase exclusive case studies and actionable insights to drive sustainable growth and overcome the complex challenges of modern urban renewal.
