1UP Toronto Design Jam: Call for Projects

1UP Toronto brings together secondary school students across Ontario to celebrate and incubate city-building ideas.

Their 2024 conference theme is "Thrive: Planning The Year-Round City," which represents a dialogue between youth and city builders about how indoor and outdoor public spaces might bring joy, wellbeing and happiness to everyone, all year round. This event will allow participants to explore how to design and plan for improving the collective wellbeing of residents, young and old. Co-hosted by Urban Minds and Plan Bold, the conference will take place on Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24 from 10 AM to 5 PM.

As part of the conference, the Design Jam is a four-hour student design competition on Sunday, March 24 for a real-life urban challenge related to the conference theme. Students are assigned into teams to develop a creative solution for a case challenge provided by the Design Jam Partner. This is where you come in!

1UP Toronto is inviting municipalities, architecture/design/planning firms, non-profits and other civic organizations to submit a project that thier team can use as a case challenge for the students. You can see this as a free service where 100 youth from Ontario are expected to attend and offer their insights on your project.

For more information, please review 1UP Toronto's Call For Projects PDF here.

The deadline to apply is Friday, February 2, 2024, at 11:59 PM.
