The Gottfried Böhm Scholarship is now open for applications, offering an opportunity for architects in the postmaster phase.
Held in Cologne, Germany, under the guidance of Mayor Henriette Reker, the one-year residency program focuses on advancing innovative architectural and urban development projects. The scholarship serves to honour the legacy of Gottfried Böhm, one of Germany's most celebrated architects and the first German to receive the Pritzker Prize.
The selected participant will receive free accommodation, a workspace in a professional environment at the Forum of the Foundation for Art and Building Culture, and a monthly grant of €2,500 (CAD$3,700). The scholarship holder will also receive guidance from a “renowned tutor” and an advisory committee. At the end of the fellowship, results will be presented during a public event in Cologne City Hall, followed by a two-week exhibition.
Eligible applicants must hold a master’s degree in architecture by May 31, 2025, be a freelance professional, and demonstrate strong language skills in German or English (C1 level). The selection process, conducted by a jury of experts, will evaluate candidates based on their professional qualifications, creativity, and project relevance.
Applications are open until May 31, 2025, via the
Gottfried Böhm Scholarship website.
Launched by numerous architectural and urban development partners, this scholarship not only fosters innovative ideas, but also celebrates the legacy of Gottfried Böhm, whose contributions to architecture remain a hallmark of Germany’s modernist heritage.
