Architecture Schools Across Canada Collaborate to Tackle Housing Alienation

Architecture schools across Canada are coming together in the 2025–2026 academic year to teach design studios around a shared goal: to end housing alienation.

This Superstudio meets the challenge to prepare tomorrow’s designers to contribute to improving housing for all.

At the heart of the Superstudio format is the belief that there is a “profound strength in numbers and that all big challenges require collaboration,” says Adrian Blackwell, who is part of the collective Architects Against Housing Alienation, which organized the Superstudio. The group also represented Canada at the 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale.

A total of thirteen higher learning institutions are participating in this Superstudio to share knowledge, inspiration, and foster solidarity.

Participants in the Superstudio will be engaging with a range of knowledge and techniques, inventing new design methods and solutions, and building a movement for change.
