W. Carson Woods, Life Member
February 28, 1940—May 19, 2025
William Carson Woods, 85, of Toronto, ON, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, following an unexpected and sudden stroke. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia, and their children, Alexandra (Brent) and Brayden (Paloma). Beloved grandfather to Hudson, Landon, and Inara.
Born on February 28th, 1940 in Port Hope, ON, Carson grew up as the youngest of four brothers. He was the last surviving brother, and his continued dedication to keep our growing family together, never wavered, and will be missed by all.
He founded Carson Woods Architects, which operated in central Toronto from 1975 to 2018. He was a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, and retired at the age of 78 (Dipl.Arch., M Sc.(Pl), FRAIC, OAA, RIBA, MCIP). His selfless involvement, and contributions in boating education, management, and sailboat racing spanned decades, multiple yachts, clubs (CBYC, RCYC), and associations (CPSS, LOOR). Carson touched many lives within this hobby. His generosity, humour and wisdom was deeply respected by all who knew him, were taught by him, sailed with him, or raced against him.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the medical staff at St Michaels Hospital for their compassionate care.
