The Design Industry Advisory Committee (DIAC) has published “
Design Impacts Framework,” a research paper demonstrating five critical impacts of design in placemaking. The resource explores the often overlooked ways in which designers contribute to the overall economic and social success of placemaking projects.
In Phase 1 of this research, DIAC’s cross-disciplinary design working group identified the positive design interventions in three Toronto projects: Sugar Beach and two of the OAA’s Queen’s Park Picks:
Artscape Wychwood Barns and the
Bentway. In the second phase, it will apply the framework to other types of projects.
